Spring is a great time to travel in Europe. It’s getting warmer & cities are covered in blooming trees, the air is fresh and clean and sun is warm. The days are longer and so there’s more time to explore. It’s also a good time to restock ourselves with inspiration after the dark winter months and so the choice was easy as Vienna has one of our most favourite museums, the Albertina.

We had 3 days and 2 nights filled with art, wine, coffee, food & conversations.

Vienna

Vienna met us with wind driving clouds across clean blue skies, blinding spring sun interspersed with brief rains, the spiers of gothic cathedrals flying into the sky surrounded by pink cherry trees just about ready to bloom.

We stayed in a quintessentially Viennese apartment with tall ceilings & shining chandeliers, heavy curtains and a hallway big enough to host a ball in.

Albertina

Albertina is mine and Jonathan’s personal favourite between the many museums and galleries we’ve visited. They offer a balanced combination of old and modern art and all of their exhibitions are neatly curated. So it was no brainer what to make a cultural part of our program. At a time of our visit they had several exhibitions including Alex Katz, whose work in my personal opinion has had a big influence on the development of modern illustration and design.

Rebeka, Graphic designer

“Albertina was super inspiring and managed to instantly reignite my passion for art and art education.”

Connection

Connection is at the core of all of our events so after the gallery visit we shared some drinks and conversations at the beautiful Palmenhaus cafe. Uniting around the table illustrators, photographers, designers, a magazine editor-in-chief, a journalist, a cameraman & a landscape architect. 5 people visited from Slovakia for the gallery and conversation.

Ani, Illustrator & New Media Specialist

“It was a great weekend filled with art, wine, great food and even better conversation.”

Veronika, Landscape Architect

“For me, joining the event was a bliss, I already want to repeat the experience, I felt like I belong.”

Food

Fine words do not make full stomachs however, so we made sure that we enjoyed ourselves with nice homecooked dinners and breakfasts at the apartment as well.

If you’d like to join one of our next retreats, consider joining one of our regular events first.
